ProjectArt/Artist Stories

Client: ProjectArt
Video Concept: Recruitment piece for artists in major US Cities
Production: Yellowhaus Studio

Traveling for work is fun, we've always enjoyed getting out of Dodge and shooting on location in different cities. And it's a huge added bonus when you get to meet and work with talented artists whose work inspires and educates kids. A win/win as they say.

We had the pleasure of doing just that recently when we traveled to Miami, New York and Newport (KY) to interview ProjectArt alumni. ProjectArt is an organization that pairs accomplished artists with underserved students who may not have access to art classes either in school or in their community.

Along the journey we met artists from Vietnam, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico and, of course, Brooklyn. Each had their own perspective on how important it is to expose these kids to art and the impact it's had on, not only the kids, but their families and their communities.

This piece was used to recruit artists into the program and the passion the artists have for ProjectArt shines through in every frame.

COOL FACT: This Miami/New York soiree was supposed to be a four (4) day shoot. Two artists per day, per market.  Once our initial flight to Miami was canceled (Thanks American Airlines) and we rescheduled and re-routed…..we landed in sunny Florida 12 1/2 hours later than expected…..turning our 4-day shoot into a 3-day shoot. Thanks to the flexibility of our artists, lots (and lots) of caffeine and some crazy Uber drivers, we were able to pull it off.  We can sleep when we're dead….right?!?

P.S.  You really haven't lived until you've dragged a half-dozen Pelican cases around Manhattan at 2 in the morning!
