Pretty much every production company, at some point, ventures out of the commercial world and into pure film-making.  It’s a right of passage and, this past February, we dove into the pool….headfirst.

After receiving (and reading) dozens and dozens of screenplays over the years, YH was pleased to have Northpointe drop on our desks in 2024.  Written by Parlay Director Rick Pate, the story follows Justin and Malik, two lifelong friends trying to find their way out of their downtrodden town.  Each has his own idea on their next chapter, but getting there….is the challenge.

After months of preparation, NP was shot over the course of 6 days and nights in Hamilton, OH.  Shout out to our crew who braved single digit weather, tight timelines and even a rogue drunk driver who crashed our set.

The final product was a 31 minute piece that we are extremely proud of.  The film has started to receive awards on the film festival circuit and Rick has a full feature screenplay making the rounds.  Fingers crossed you’ll be seeing more of these characters down the road!

COOL FACT: After a 15 hour overnight shoot on a cold February night, our cast and crew was departing at 5AM for home and their warm beds.  As we all were about to head out, we were informed that a member of our crew (who will remain un-named!) had locker her keys in her running car.  As a good Producer does, ours hung out, swapped funny stories and kept our gal company until AAA arrived…..at 7:30AM!  We all got home safely and managed to grab a few hours shut-eye before we had to be up and at-em for the shoot the next day.  Always an adventure!
